One of the largest cities in Rajasthan, Jodhpur is best-known for the majestic Mehrangarh Fort.
The city was located on the planned road linking Delhi to Gujarat which enabled it to profit from a prosperous trade in opium, copper, silk, sandals, dates and coffee. Under the rule of Maharaja Umed Singh, Jodhpur grew into an excellent modern city. During the rule of the British, Jodhpur went on to become the largest city in Rajputana. It thrived under the British; its merchants, the Marwaris, prospered and came to occupy a leading position in trade all over India.
The bazaars of Jodhpur are a treasure trove of tie-and-dye textiles, embroidered leather shoes, lacquer-ware, antiques, carpets and puppets to the attractive Rajasthani textiles, clay figurines and classic silver jewelry.

Mehrangarh fort

Located on an impregnable hill 125 meters above Jodhpur, the Mehrangarh Fort is one of the most famous forts in India and is steeped in history and legends. The Mehrangarh Fort still bears the imprints of cannon attacks by the Jaipur armies at its second gate. Sculpted and robust, the fort is known for its exquisite lattice windows, sculpted panels, windows and finely decorated walls by Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal and Sheesh Mahal.

Umaid Bhavan Palace
Umaid Bhawan Palace was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh in 1929 to counter a famine that had hit the state at that time.
The building was designed by HV Lanchester, a famous British architect, and was completed in 16 years.
Built with sandstone and marble, the architecture of the building is a blend of lando-Saracen style, classic revival and Western déco art, it is known as one of the largest private houses in the world.
The Palace has 347 rooms and is the main residence of the former royal family Jodhpur. A museum that shows the works of art of the royal age.

Jaswant Thada
Considered one of the best architectural monuments of Jodhpur, Jaswant Thada is a short distance from the mighty Mehrangarh Fort. Jaswant Thada is an empty memorial tomb built in honor of Maharaja Jaswant Singh in the year 1899. The structure is constructed of white marble and consists of many portraits of the kings of Rathore. A multi-level garden and a small lake are also part of the complex.

Clock Tower and Sadar Bazaar
The Clock Tower or Ghanta Ghar is an important and popular place to see in Jodhpur. Located in the old town, near the Sardar market, it is a high colossal tower built by Maharaja Sardar Singh during his domination between 1880 and 1911. Since the construction of this structure, the place became the landmark of the city.
The nearby Sardar market or Sadar Market is a great way to explore local life by buying local crafts. At night the clock is illuminated by beautiful lights and looks incredible.

Mandore Gardens
Mandore Gardens is one of the best parks to visit in Jodhpur. Mandore has a history dating back to the 6th century, which is prior to the creation of Jodhpur as a city.
The garden houses a museum, a "Hall of Heroes" and a temple dedicated to the 33 Hindu gods of the gods.
